Microsoft has a web site devoted to helping the smaller business. In addition to providing information and advice it also gives the company an opportunity to sell its services and software. Nothing wrong with that.
I thought I would have a look to see the type of advice I would receive about 50+ marketing.
Having tried all of the usual search terms (baby boomers, 50+, older consumers, grey market) I gave up with the UK site. I had more success with bcentral in the US and came upon an article called ‘Have boomers lost marketing sex appeal?’
The initial interest generated by the title was soon deflated when a Mr Gary Onks (Sales Consultant) was quoted, with what must be one of the daftest statements I have ever encountered, ‘Seniors buy everything that everyone else does, the only difference is that seniors have more birthdays’
The article did improve from this unpromising start. I would have thought Microsoft could have provided something more insightful and useful than this effort.
