Nielsen//NetRatings have just published their latest data on the penetration of US households using the Internet.
The US online population now exceeds 200 million people. A few interesting stats for the 50+ marketer.
The proportion of the 55+ population that is online is now 63%. In the age groups 25-34 and 35-54, women have overtaken men as the main user of the internet from home (77% and 82% respectively). They did not publish any stats for the male/female break for older Internet users but I bet it is a close run thing between men and women users.
Now I wonder how many web designers have given a minute’s thought to the requirements of 63,000,000 US citizens who are 55+?
