Australian radio divides along age lines

The sales chief of one of Australia’s large radio companies came out with this statement “while disposable income and bigger population numbers were with the older age brackets, the appeal of the younger markets to advertisers was that they had more flexible purchasing habits. Advertisers feel they have a better chance of influencing the buying decisions of younger audiences, people over 40 have pretty established buying patterns.”

Where have I heard this argument before??

The article containing this quote is an interesting insight to how the Australia radio market is dividing along age lines.

There is a lovely quote from another radio owner “We're more 45 to 64, and we can make a pretty good case for 39 to 64." I just wonder what music programming makes the difference between 39-44? Dick Stroud: www.20plus30.com
