The poor old BBC cannot help it. If you are suffering from insomnia and want something to send you to sleep I can recommend this podcast from the BBC’s web site by three self-satisfied, paid up members of the UK’s chattering class, waffling on about ageing and boomers.
The title of the item should give it away.
This is another fact-free programme from the BBC and a chance to have a poke at Boomers (whoever they are).
It is littered with banal statements like:
“All of this consumer nonsense about hair, beauty etc – you don’t get any concern about ageing in Darfur...”
“..Enormous propaganda campaign that you have to look youthful...”
“.. There is more money to be made out of anxiety and insecurity than feeling good...”
One of the commentators (Brian Applyard) talks some sense but the other two (Joan Bakewell and Evelyn Roberts) are typical BBC fodder – all opinion and no knowledge. Dick Stroud
