There was an item in yesterday's NY Times about a flight attendant who has just celebrated his 63rd year in the job (he is 83 years old).
Included in the article was this statement: "More than 40% of the roughly 110,000 flight attendants in the United States are 50 or older, according to an analysis of 2010 census data by the University of Texas, who has studied the changing demographics of flight attendants. Less than 18% are 34 or younger.
Just as I finished reading the article a guy came to clear our table (we were having lunch). I would guess he was well into his late 70s.
