Future of retinal implants - looking good

An amazing glimpse, excuse the pun, into the future of how we might have 25/25 vision.

OK, I am getting ahead of myself but this article in MIT Technology Review gives a taste of how retinal implants that fit entirely inside the eye will use nanoscale electronic components to dramatically improve vision quality for the wearer.

At the moment the quality of these things is equivalent to the old days of 14k modems (not many will remember that distant time). The new implants will be like having a 10 Mb broadband link.

Nobody knows how long these developments will take going from prototype to being in the hospital. Not long I hope. Dick Stroud
