Here is a nice take on how we define ageing

Researchers say that old age should be defined as having 15 or fewer years left to live. That means if you are a baby boomer then you are still middle aged until their 74th year.

I am not too sure about all of this because the main thing is 'healthy life expectancy' not just 'life expectancy'.

Anyway the justification for this argument is contained in a paper published by PLOS (Public Library of Science). This is the first time I have heard of this organisation but certainly the way they present their research is first rate.

Of course the research gave some nice headlines so it made it through to the mainstream media.
