Intel's Proactive Health Research Group

Well Microsoft has got its NetGen group (see previous post) that researches the youth sector.

Intel’s Proactive Health Research Group looks at the other end of the age spectrum. Its remit is to understand how current technologies can be applied to help with issues faced by older people. The sort of things it gets involved with is building networks of sensing devices that could be embedded in a home to monitor a person's behavioral patterns and location, as well as send prompts to a person such as reminders to take medication.

I suspect we are only just scratching the surface of new technology based product opportunities to 50+ market. Have a look at this article for more details. Another reference about what the computing industry is doing (in this case IBM) can be found in the posting on Fri Jul 04.

Nearly forgot. Happy birthday Mick (Jagger). Not bad for 60.
