Technology marketers – you are missing a big opportunity

I have just read another article containing the ‘well know fact’ that the 50+, let alone the 60+, are not that interested in technology. By coincidence the weekly e-mail newsletter from AARP (formerly known as the American Association of Retired Persons) has just popped up in my inbox. I followed the link on the e-mail to ‘what’s new on the AARP Web site’.
What did I find? 50% of the items were related to technology (PCs, Internet, gadgets etc).

Remember this is an organisation with 35 million members where nearly 50% of the membership is aged 60-74.

Marketers, just for once abandon these daft stereotypes of the 50+ and you might discover a huge business opportunity.
