This may be a bit girly but I wonder how may people realise that all the attention and hype about this week's premiere of the film "Calendar Girls" is actually a celebration of "baby boomer" women. There is still a real fascination and interest in the fact that they "get their kit off" and although their bodies may be a bit saggier than 20 years ago they are still seen as attractive and sexy women.
The fact that the film is also about "real" people who are faced with tragic life events and they bounce back by being creative,doing something different, having fun, being energetic, daring, courageous and sexy ( not descriptions normally associated with post-menopausal women) shows that we have to be so careful with stereotypes of age.
Whatever the film's like, I'm going along to celebrate their guts not just their boobs!
