This is the title of a recruitment advertisement in this week's "Marketing" magazine and is the first I've seen specifically targeting this market. Some company,unspecified, is looking to fill four roles for a new division that has been established to research and understand the changing "older" marketplace and to support their own product and service development.
This seems to be pretty encouraging to me and hopefully these kind of initiatives will help to build awareness AND, more importantly, get the public and private sectors to start to address some of the very serious issues (eg long term care) that we will be faced with.
As a strategic marketing consultant specialising in this market am I concerned about the competition? NO. This market is big enough for all of us and will get most of us through to retirement!
