50+ don’t get the blogging habit

Perseus Development Corp’s research found some interesting facts about the world of the blog, or the ‘blogosphere’ as it becoming known. They estimate that over 4 million have been created but of these nearly 3 million have been either permanently or temporarily abandoned.

Teenagers have created the majority of blogs, with a staggering 92% having been created by people under the age of 30. Interestingly, females create the majority (56%).

The 50+ represent a measly 0.7% of blog owners.

Perseus forecast that the number of blogs will grow to over 10 million by the end of 2004.
So it would seem that for the time being this area of the internet is going to stay the province of the young.
