Are Millennials (Y-ers/ Echo Boomers) to good to be true?

A generation defined by terms like ‘authenticity’ and ‘integrity’ worries me, especially when the oldest member of is only 23. Do you know anybody like this? ‘They are family oriented, viscerally pluralistic, and deeply committed to authenticity and truth-telling’. Does that sound like any child or grandchild you know? The writer goes on to say ‘Millennials are apt to trust parents, teachers and police and yearn for a good marriage’.

Viewers of Absolutely Fabulous may recognise this as describing Saffron (Saffy) – Eddy’s long suffering daughter who is desperately trying to be respectable against the best efforts of her boomer mother to inculcate her into the joys of sex, drugs and ‘rock and roll’.

The article that caused me to write about the Y-ers gives an amusing overview of their characteristics and is currently being syndicated in the US press. If you want to delve deeper into the mind of this saintly generation have a look at this piece appearing on the brandchannel Web site.
