Importance of 'no one will call'

During Marketing Week's 50+ Life stages Conference a panel of real life over 50s answered the audience's questions about their sales and marketing likes and dislikes.

One message that came over very clearly was their extreme dislike of telemarketing. I don't think the 50+ are alone in this feeling since if you watch any of the advertisements for 'roll-up' finance you will always hear the comment 'and no salesman will call'.

I think that the credit card company Bank One have woken up to this consumer preference since they have just launched a credit card in conjunction with AARP

Their press announcement says 'AARP and Bank One are jointly marketing a credit card (The AARP Rewards Platinum Visa), which promises AARP members no telemarketing along with 1 percent back on all card purchases.
I think this a smart bit of thinking and maybe something that SAGA could adopt. Their credit card option has no such guarantees .
