Marketers, blind in both eyes

This terrific article by Linda Tischler is a “must read”. In it she gives a witty account of how the marketing fraternity (in the US but equally applicable to the UK) are not only blind to the opportunities of the 50+ but especially its female members.

The article contains a lot of the statistics that are regulrarly reported in this blog but it combines them with some revealing marketing examples and powerful real-life stories.

My only critisisms are that it doesn’t comment upon the issue of interactive marketing and it gives the impression that all baby boomers have wallets ready to explode with their new found wealth. Not true.

It is also good to see that London research firms (Headlightvision) are getting quoted in the US media.
