I recently had an e-mail from a reader of this blog telling me about a conference taking place in San Francisco in April 13th titled “Transforming Boomers' Needs and Interests to Success in the Marketplace”
It has most of the “age gurus” speaking and what is heartening is to see the list includes a European representative Jean-Paul Treguer
The really interesting thing about this conference is a $10,000 competition for the best concept and business plan for a product or service for the 50+. Apparently the number of submissions to the competition has been far greater than its founder (Mary Furlong) had forecast.
All sorts of people have submitted business plans: students, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs, ad agencies, and product designers. Mary has been touring the US speaking at ad agencies, colleges (including Harvard and MIT), and other venues.
It will be interesting to see what product/service is the eventual winner of the competition.
Anybody fancy running a similar event in the Europe?
