Pin your ears back Sydney and Melbourne

DMG Radio Australia yesterday launched it new Sydney-Melbourne network.

The new stations, 95.3FM in Sydney and 91.3FM in Melbourne, would go to air on Monday under the brand name Vega. Tagged with the slogan "on your wavelength", they will be music stations with a strong talk component, aimed at listeners aged between 40 and 60, and skewed towards a female audience.

Apparently Vega means brilliant blue star. That’s as it may be but the first thing that came into my mind was the name of the star (planetary not acting) in the film Contact staring Jodie Foster.

Anyway, It is worth reading the article to understand the type of programme mix they reckon this audience will be interested in hearing.

There is no doubt in my mind; Australia is the most advanced country in the way it recognises the importance of the 50 Plus. Dick Stroud www.20plus30.com
