Who is (and isn't) working in the UK

Why do those people born outside the UK seem to find it easier to work than those born in good old Blighty? Half the people on the unemployment count have been on the dole for 6 months.
The sad thing is that 44.5% of people age 50+ who are unemployed have been on the dole for 6 months+ Dick Stroud
