Are Millennials the Screwed Generation? Unlucky but not screwed.

I guess it is an inexpensive way of getting attention - a good bout of Boomer bashing and telling the Millennials what a rough life they have. Well that is the way Newsweek sees things.  As soon as you read this sort of sentence you know that you are in for an emotionally strong but intellectually insipid experience : Today’s youth, both here and abroad, have been screwed by their parents’ fiscal profligacy and economic mismanagement.

I will say it yet again. By all means blame the politicans that have governmened in the US and Europe. The fools that thought the Euro was a good idea and that you could borrow yourself out of a mess. Don't be so stupid as to blame a 'generation'. It is also the misfortune for the Millennials to be around at a time when the centre of economic gravity is hurtling towards the East leaving much of the West an industrial wasteland. That is just the luck of the draw in the same way as being born and having to take part in a war.

Dear, dear, dear - just look at this ad that plays on the fact that the son is not working and stays at home. I know that Brits have a different take on things to Americans but this does look terrible.

There are a couple of links that discuss the ad - click here and here.  Dick Stroud
