Some older consumers really do have a lot of money to spend

This is a bit of a 'catch all' article (in Forbes) but the overall message is right.

This quote - if it is true - adds to the very long list of reasons why marketers should be focusing more if not most of their attention on the older demographic.

"The new crop of baby boomer grandparents is also doing more with, and for, their grandchildren, opening up their purses and wallets, and spending a collective total of $35 billion a year on their grandkids. On average, they spend $500 a year on grandchildren, up from $320 in 1992.”
It is sad that after so many years we are still having to try and shock some marketers into taking older consumers seriously. Dick Stroud
