Fabulous marketing common sense from the man at Gov.uk

One of the speakers at the Festival of Marketing made the radical suggestion that: "some brands become hung up on innovation or using the latest digital marketing techniques while neglecting basic user experience problems."

To reinforce the point he said: “you are better off making a product that works really well than taking an average one and promoting it.”

The speaker was not some jumped up consultant but is the director of strategy for the Government Digital Service, Davies has overseen the development of the Government’s new website, Gov.uk.

Let's hope that his pearls of wisdom are being heard by his fellow government workers.

A simple, dependable web site is what most people want, especially those of an older variety.   Dick Stroud
