Where to live in the UK if you are 50-plus (according to RIAS)

Whenever you rank anything, from a car to a city, it depends on the variables you select and the weighting you give to each of the factors.

The car insurer RIAS has been playing about with its spreadsheets and come up with this listing of the worst and best places in the UK to live for the over-50s.

I am  not convinced it has much value and am astonished by the results. If I were to say anything more it would betray my prejudices so I think I will keep schtum, other than to say that wild horses wouldn't persuade me to live in Edinburgh. Dick Stroud
