China will be the most aggressive supplier of products and services for the 60+

Last year I was speaking at a conference in Canada and the part of my presentation that seemed to surprise the audience the most was what I had to say about China.

Here a three of the slides that I used.

First was my prediction

Then a measure of the business potential

Finally the numbers!

Kim Walker recently commented upon research conducted in China about the older consumer and their preferences.

The group of people interviewed were middle class, aged 65 or above (men and women) and adults who were carers of people 65 years of age or older either at home or in nursing homes. The survey covered Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong.

As you will in the video, the Chinese realise the business opportunities are ‘across the board’, not limited to the usual healthcare and retirement home stereotype.

If you are interested in older consumers you have to be interested in China. Dick Stroud
