There is an amusing article on the Media Week site about the recent bevy of letters in the FT about advertising and the 50+.
My thanks to Maggie Brown (the article’s author) for pointing out this piece of news.
“Upcoming entertainment station ITV3 will be backed by a £20m budget when it launches at the end of this year, Broadcast reports this week.
The new channel - aimed at the over-45s - will not be an archive channel like Granada Plus, which is to be wound down over the coming months.
Original lifestyle commissions will air in the daytime, while films from the Carlton library and repeats of key ITV1 dramas will run in primetime.
Some of the programming budget will also be spent on extended coverage of events like the Chelsea Flower Show, allowing viewers to switch over after an ITV1 broadcast for more.”
I have to say I am not counting the days until I can watch the Chelsea Flower Show from morn to night but it is a positive move.
