Nothing like targeted e-mail marketing

This morning an e-mail, with this subject line, popped up in my inbox, ‘All Baby Boomers, Investors, Doctors, Tax Payers’. You can see the writer didn't get beyond page one of how to write an effective e-mail.

Why is it you just know what follows is going to be, what shall we say, of dubious content.

The opening line starts, ‘The trend is your friend, is the best known Axiom on Wall Street!’ and then goes on to tell me how, ‘New Legislation enacted in December and January has created a $78 BILLION annual market opportunity today and will grow to $624 BILLION annually by year 2030. At the time of this report, there is only ONE company positioned to capitalize on this Major Trend Opportunity!’

I will not insult your intelligence recounting any more of the message.

Let’s hope this is not indicative of the quality of baby boomer e-mail marketing we can expect in the future.

The only positive thing you can say about the thing is that at least they have identified a group of people who might have the money to waste on such an investment.
