There is an article on the brandchannel site worth a read (The Senior Market: Turning silver into gold). From this abysmal choice of title it gets better and has some interesting data on the Australia market.
As much as I am unconvinced that quoting statistics at people gets them to change their mind I would think that any Australia marketer could not help but sit up and take note of the following:
“More than 37 % of Australia’s wealth is held by the four million Australians born between 1946 and 1960, up from 33 percent in 1986. In contrast, the share of total wealth held by 25 to 39-year-olds declined from 27 percent to 19 percent over the same period. People aged 45 to 64 now represent 52% of the total population growth.”
