At the beginning of this week (Monday, December 12) I wrote a post about the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
I thought I would have a look at the event blog to see how the attendees have been spending their week.
Much to my surprise I find that they have been voting on 50 (fifty) resolutions. You can read them here.
It seemed that the delegates had been very busy and I thought must feel pleased with their week’s work. I have to admit that my admiration took a distinct plunge when I had a read through the resolutions. Here are a few examples:
1. Establish principles to strengthen social security
2. Expand opportunities for developing innovative housing designs for seniors’ needs
3. Encourage redesign of senior centers for broad appeal and ommunity participation
Now maybe I am missing the point of this event and these resolutions but they strike me; how shall I say, as being bland and imprecise. Perhaps I am being a little too critical? No, I think not. Dick Stroud
