Men, women and the Web

I missed this press release when it first appeared in August 2005.

A university in the UK researched the differences between men and women’s preferences when using the web. It was titled a” first-of-its-kind study”, which is not strictly true, since Fidelity (US) got there first. Few people, however, have researched this very important area so it was a welcome contribution to building web sites around what useds rather than designers want.

Unfortunately the research did not appear to consider the change in attitudes linked to age.

I am certain that the differences between what women and men want when using the Web increases with age – at some stage I hope to do the research to prove this hypothesis. Dick Stroud
