Phone a senior helper

As Governments around the world attempt to provide their older citizens with half decent (some would say a quarter decent) support services it is possible that the private sector might fill the gap.

This is an example of one such US company (Spectrum Home Services) that provides assistance to seniors and busy home owners by offering services in the following core areas;personal care, companionship, handyman, cleaning, yard care and relocation.

The company claims that by “focusing on quality, affordability and exceptional customer services, Spectrum has become the leader in the Home Services and Elderly Care industries”. Have a listen to one of their radio commercials.

This is an interesting concept. My fear is that the Local (State) Government authorities will do their best to submerge these types of organisations in sea of red tape. If they can get around this hurdle they might become an important plank in providing personal care to older people. They might also be a source of employment for the soon to be older people.Dick Stroud
