The UK is suffering from too much corporate research (done for PR coverage) and an oversupply of academic ‘experts’ who, at the drop of a hat, support the conclusions with their words of wisdom.
Here is an example from last week’s press.
Headline: “Youths twice as likely to trust and respect a person in uniform than the older generation.”
Source: G4S Security Services (UK).
Rationale for the research/article: G4S has recently re-branded of all of its officer's uniforms as part of the global rebranding process following the merger of Group 4 Falk and Securicor.
Academic: "Types of clothing can incite different feelings between the generations. As a society we are often quick to stereotype the thoughts and actions of young people simply because of how they dress” - “Five fifteen year olds wearing ‘hoodies’ were recently mistaken for muggers whilst saving the life of an unconscious man who was suffering from mild hypothermia in Beccles, Suffolk.” Wow what insight!!
