Whenever you read any research about boomers/50-plus you will see the same observation: “many of them don’t intend to retire”.
Maybe because of necessity (they haven’t get enough cash) or maybe because the thought of doing nothing is so unappealing; the result is there will be millions of the 50-plus looking to embark on a new business venture. Believe me, there will be a lot of companies selling ready made business opportunities to satisfy this need.
The most obvious and easiest start-up business is eBay. This probably explains why 50% of eBay users are 45+.
A press release from Predator Marketing Systems (a slightly off-putting name) is a good example of this type of venture - “Baby Boomer ends search for a business Internet start-up plan that works”.
I have no idea if Predator is good or bad but it is a classic of a genre of business opportunities that will flood the market. Dick Stroud
