The press release says: “With many people paying off their mortgage when they are aged 50 and over, they usually look to their savings and investments to provide an important source of supplementary income.
We believe the Silver Savings Online Account combines competitive features and secure benefits, whilst also acknowledging increased technological awareness within this group of people who now represent over a third of the UK population.”
Not a bad neutral type of ad (the frog is part of their corporate branding) but I wonder why Northern Rock had to label the account “Silver Savings”. Why not the 50-plus account?
Full marks to Northern Rock for identifying and then doing something about the 50-plus but disappointed they couldn’t completely break the bonds and ditch an out of date label. Dick Stroud
