Yet more research about working intentions of older people

That is just a personal thing, but why Liverpool and Victoria selected the logo LV= is beyond my imagination. It is the most unmemorable logo I have ever encountered. Anyway, this has nothing to do with their logo but some research they recently published about the working intentions of the older age group.

I quote:

The number of over-50s expecting to work past the state retirement age has risen to 6.5 million, an increase of 43% on the 4.5 million people planning to do so in 2010. On average this is an extra 6.2 years.

More women than men intend to carry on working later in life, with 4.1 million women over 50 expecting to work past the state retirement age, compared to 2.4 million men.

I always warn people that they should rely on the details of this type of research but rather the trend that it indicates.

As we have seen from the stuff that was published last week, and my comments in this blog, there is an upheaval taking place in many households of those close to retirement who realise that they don't have enough bucks to retire. Dick Stroud
