The Swiss also get old

It is always a bit worrying when Governments get involved in the market but maybe the Swiss have learn the secret of how to succeed. This week, Switzerland’s Innovation and Promotion Agency held a conference looking at how local companies are adapting their products to the aging population. Research published by St Gallen University suggests that like the rest of the world Swiss companies need to wake-up.

About 85 per cent of the 100 companies interviewed believed they should adjust their products to be more senior-friendly, but only 29 per cent have begun to do it. A long way to go.

A couple of interesting examples of companies who are on the move are: MobiClick, with its pensioner-friendly mobile phone with just three keys and Nestlé food with its new range of “heart-smart” menus. It was surprising there were no examples of large faced watches! Dick Stroud www.20plus30.com
