US data on mobile messaging

M:Metrics measures consumer consumption of mobile content and applications (in the US).

The chart shows their analysis, by age, of the use of mobile messaging.

It is interesting that the uptake of the 65+ and the 55-64 is the same. In Europe there is not that much analysis of messaging or mobile content uptake but all of the analysis of technology use shows a big distinction between the 65+ and younger age groups.

Apparently 52% of subscribers age 25-34 sent or received text messages in the previous month, while 37% of those age 35-44 communicated via text. 68% of those age 18-24 send and receiving text messages. Just 14% of the 65+ use text messaging. Dick Stroud www.20plus30.com
