BusinessWeek, Forbes and Newsweek have something in common – what is it? Give up?
In the last couple of weeks they all have featured, on their front cover, features about Boomers. In Newsweek’s case it says “Ready of not Boomers turn sixty”.
The main article is titled Boomer Files.
Lots of quotes from Boomer sages
"Baby boomers literally think they're going to die before they get old," says J. Walker Smith, president of Yankelovich Partners,
"Just knowing their age doesn't tell you what life stage they're at. They reinvent themselves every three to five years” Matt Thornhill, president of the Boomer Project.
“Some boomers are new dads at 59." Gilmartin, president of Coming of Age, Inc.
"You have corporate CEOs who want to be schoolteachers, and marketing managers who'd really rather run a coffee shop, bookkeepers who want to join the Peace Corps” Ken Dychtwald.
Worth a quick read. The online multimedia quiz is much more fun. I didn’t do very well but I put that down to the US bias in the questions. The real reason is the cognitive effects of aging, but none of that this time in the morning.
If you still have time read this very amusing article by Albert Brooks. This guy has just made a movie called ‘Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World’. Now that will be worth watching. Thanks to Chuck Nyren for telling me about the Newsweek feature.
One more thing. Newsweek is the first web site I have found that has a “blog it” button for its articles. Methinks we will see more of that. Dick Stroud
