Twentysomethings Seeking Eternal Youth

Now even twentysomethings are joining the quest for eternal youth by using anti-aging products and wrinkle treatments. Some young adults say they want to reverse the effects the sun has already had on their skin. Others already are feeling social pressure to retain their fresh-faced looks.
So says an article in the Washington Post. What a brilliant bit of marketing. Take a product that is initially aimed at older people and make it not only acceptable but desirable by younger generations. Not only do you increase the size of your market but in one leap you achieve age-neutral marketing.

If it works for anti-aging cream why cannot it not work for other products that have historically been aimed at the 50-plus? Sexy 20/20 glasses – IPOD like hearing aids – escalator staircases – extreme sport incontinence pads. That’s just for starters. Happy Xmas. Dick Stroud
