This has nothing directly to do with the 50-plus but a lot to do a with marketing.
I guess most of us have downloaded Google Earth? If not then you don’t know what you are missing.
If we fast forward ten years it I just possible that we have long forgotten about Google the search engine – maybe Microsoft will have got its act together or maybe there will be a totally new company taking central stage on searching the Web.
What is unlikely to have happened is that Google Earth will have been knocked from its position as the way we go about presenting geographic data. Google Earth and its Keyhole Markup Language (KML) is fast getting to a position where it is the de facto standard.
Now if you overlay Google’s intention to drill its search advertising down to a local geographic level you see why the company has invested so much in Google Earth. Brilliant marketing. Dick Stroud
