The state of global markets in a single chart


I love infographics as a means of conveying information. A great invention, but sometimes they become too clever for their own good. By the time you have got to the bottom you have so much information that you have lost the main points (maybe this problem is associated with cognitive ageing).

I thought this single chart from a Nielsen study was brilliant in showing what is going on in global geographic markets. This shows the percentage change in Ad Spend for the period Jan-Sept 2012 compared with the previous period.

No shocks seeing Europe being the only area in negative territory. Not much point advertising to the youth in Spain and Greece when over half of them don't have a job.

Interesting to see the growth was higher in the US than Asia Pacific. Dick Stroud
